‘EXPANDING DIMENSIONS OF THE HORIZON

தொடுவானின் விரிபரிமாணங்கள்

‘ரிஷி’

(லதா ராமகிருஷ்ணன்)

“All that you had drawn 

when you were a little girl  -  fine.

But, you are now grown- up .

Still you do the same as before

Isn’t it absurd to the core?

How can there be moon and stars 

on a rainy day?”

 _ So asked the elders irritated and sarcastic.

And the little girl 

Aged a few eons

responded with a smile:

‘ Just because they are not visible to us

Aren’t there the Moon and Stars?

The sky drawn by me is widespread

 over the entire globe.

With rain pouring in one side 

There would be moon radiant 

on the other side

Do know that.?’

That which twinkles In the eyes of the kitten 

which smiles listening to her  _

Are they stars?

Venus? Jupiter? Mars? 

Or  Pluto afar?

‘சிறுமியாய் இருந்தபோது வரைந்ததெல்லாம் சரிதான்

வளர்ந்தபின்பும் இப்படியே செய்தால் எப்படி?

மழைபொழியும் வானில் நிலவும் நட்சத்திரமும் எப்படியிருக்கும்?’

என்று எரிச்சலும் எகத்தாளமுமாய் கேட்ட பெரியவர்களிடம்

சிரித்துக்கொண்டே சொல்வாள்

சில நூறாண்டுகள் வயதான சிறுமி:

‘நமக்குத் தெரிவதில்லை யென்பதால் நிலவும் நட்சத்திரங்களும்

அங்கேயில்லாமல் போய்விடுமாor

அல்லது

”நான் வரைந்துள்ள வானம் உலகெங்கும் விரிந்திருக்கும்.

ஓரிடத்தில் மழைபொழிய வேறிடத்தில் நிலா காயும் தெரியுமா!”

அதைக் கேட்டுப் புன்னகைக்கும் பூனைக்குட்டியின் கண்களில்

மின்னிக்கொண்டிருப்பது விண்மீன்களா?

வீனஸா ஜூபிட்டரா மார்ஸா ப்ளூட்டோவா?
